Students have a master’s level degree from any UGC-approved University with a minimum of 55% marks and 5% relaxation for reserved category students. Interviews will be conducted for those candidates who score at least 50% marks in the entrance exam and reserved students need at least 45% marks. The entrance exam weightage is 70 % where 30 % will be for the interview process. IGNOU PhD Specializations

IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam

Eligible candidates who wish to enroll in the IGNOU PhD entrance test have to undergo some selection stages. These are as follows:

• The entrance exam is held in two stages. Under stage 1, the entrance test will be conducted offline by IGNOU across the country in selected test centers.
• After the entrance test, the eligible candidates list will be displayed only on the IGNOU website.
• For admit cards, students are required to download and print the copy from the website.
• The entrance test consists of MCQs. There are a total of 100 questions, with no negative marking. Based on the score on the entrance test, the candidates will be called for an interview round.
• To appear in the entrance test, candidates must bring the required documents such as a photograph, Aadhar card, voter ID card, driving license, passport, and ID card issued by government agencies.
• Students who scored 50% marks and 45% in reserved categories will be shortlisted for interviews as per UGC, in order of merit, subject to a maximum limit of five times the available seats.
• All candidates accepted with M.Phil or those who have qualified with UGC NET including JRF/SLET/GATE, Teacher Fellowship must pass the IGNOU PhD test.
• Submissions for the application for the PhD program will be held online.
• Candidates can apply only for one program at the entrance test, which will be conducted for all programs on the same day.
• For reserved categories, there shall be a reserved seat for PwD (with not less than 40% disability).

IGNOU Ph.D. Selection Criteria

The selection criteria are in stage 2, in which students have to endure some basic steps. These are as follows.

• The interview/presentation round: During this stage, shortlisted students will be invited and the offer letter will be sent to selected candidates. 
• The interview round would consist of 30% weightage carrying, and candidates will be evaluated based on their performance in the interview test.
• The selection criteria are based on the student’s performance and the test and interview.
• In the end, students who are selected will be asked to verify documents and approve the research proposal.
