The Scheme “Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship” for Meritorious Girl Students belonging to Minority Communities was earlier known as “Maulana Azad National Scholarship for Meritorious Girls belonging to Minorities” and the same was launched by the then Prime Minister of India (late) Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The main aim of the Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship is to promote and assist girl students belonging to National Minorities who cannot continue their education due to a lack of financial support. Any student who receives a scholarship under a government program shall not be eligible to receive the Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship 2024-25. Eligible students are selected based on the percentage of marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination and the parent or guardian’s income. For the selection of students, merit lists are prepared based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. In each state, a quota is fixed based on the minority population of each community. Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship Renewal 2024-25
No applications for BHMNS Scholarship renewal will be entertained. Since applications are open for all classes, i.e. from 9th to 12th, the beneficiaries must apply fresh for each class. The last date of the BHMNS Scholarship 2024-25 is 31 October 2024. The amount of the BHMNS scholarship will be credited to the Beneficiary Bank Account directly under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.

- Students get two quarters from the बेगम हजरत महल स्कॉलरशिप for admission, course/tuition fee, and maintenance allowance.
- INR 10,000 will be released in two installments of Rs 5000 each for the Admission and tuition fees of Class 9th and 10th.
- Admission and tuition fees for the 11th class and 12th class are Rs 12,000, which will be released in two installments of Rs 6000 each.

Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
- The Scholarship program is open to all girls who belong to one of the six minorities notified by the government: Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis.
- BHMNS scholarship is available for minority girls studying in Class 9 through 12 who have scored a minimum of 50% in class or a qualifying exam, and who are from minority backgrounds.
- Students’ parents or guardians have an annual income under Rs 2 lakh from all sources.
- A student’s parents or guardians must provide an income certificate issued by a competent authority in the state or territory government.
- Students over 18 years of age must self-certify their community certificate. Other students require a Community Certificate certified by their parent/guardian.
- Begum Hazrat Mahal Scholarship may be suspended or canceled if a student violates school discipline or other scholarship terms and conditions. When these regulations governing the scheme are violated, the State Government/Union Territory Administration can also directly cancel the award.
- Students who are found to have obtained scholarships by false statements will have their scholarships canceled immediately, and the state/UT will recover the scholarship amount.
- A student shall only be eligible for one Scholarship from the Central Government (SSC/ST/OBC/minority).
- Scholarships will not be given to more than two students from the same family.
- No scholarship shall be given for studying abroad for any course.
- There are no fees/charges for either the online application form or for any other service in this regard.
- If an applicant has entered their Aadhaar correctly in their online application and their Aadhaar is seeded with any bank account, in such cases the scholarship will be credited to their Aadhaar-seeded bank account only (even if the student has mentioned any other non-seeded bank account).
