CAT Exam Date 2024

The CAT 2024 exam will be held on 26 November 2024 (Sunday). The exam will be held in three sessions at around 300 test centers spread across 155 cities in India.

The CAT 2024 exam is a computer-based test that lasts 2 hours. The exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions divided into three sections:

• Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) – 40 questions
• Quantitative Ability (QA) – 60 questions
• Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) – 80 questions

The CAT 2024 exam is one of India’s most competitive MBA entrance exams. The exam is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and is used for admission to MBA programs at IIMs and other leading B-schools in India.

CAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

1. Candidates must have graduated with 50% marks, and those who are SC, ST, and PWD students must have 45% marks.

CAT 2024 Registration Fees: The CAT 2024 registration fees are as follows:

• General and EWS/NC-OBC candidates: INR 2,400
• SC/ST/PwD candidates: INR 1,200

The registration fees can be paid online using a debit card, credit card, or net banking.

CAT Registration Process 2024

The CAT Entrance Registration Process is available on the official website of CAT 2024.

1. Students here need to visit and start the fresh registration process.
2. Students need to fill in the details like their name, contact details, and email address.
3. The credentials will be received on the mobile number provided.
4. Students need to log in through these credentials and start the application process.
5. After this students need to fill in the accurate data from personal to academic details.
6. Students should also add all certificates and documents necessary for the Entrance examinations.
7. After filling in all details there comes the payment step which students need to pay carefully without any error.
8. The payment is bifurcated for the general and reserved categories, the application fee for the general student is 2200/-, and for the reserved category, the fee is 1100/- rupees.
9. This payment can be done online, in net banking, or UPI.

CAT Exam Form Photo Requirements

Here is the CAT exam for photo requirements, Candidates must read the following instructions while uploading the scanned image of their passport-size photo within 1200 pixels x 1200 pixels. Also, upload the scanned image of your signature within 80mm X 35mm. The document file format should be a .jpg or .jpeg, and the file size should not exceed 80KB each. The image should be clear with a minimum resolution of 150px/inch. The photo should not be over 6 months old and have a white background. You will need the photograph uploaded here to be affixed on the admit card on the test day (November 26, 2024). So, please ensure that you have enough copies of this photo.

CAT Exam Pattern 2024

The CAT Exam Pattern contains 3 sections for the examinations. The first is the Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC) Questions: the total marks are 24.

• Quantitative Aptitude (QA) Questions: 22 marks for sector 2.
• Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DI & LR) Questions: 20 marks for the third section.
• The total time allotted for each section is 40 minutes and the total time allotted is 120 minutes for the examinations.

The students will ask 66 marks in total and the total marks are 198 for this entrance examination. Students while appearing for the examinations should be aware that the correct marking will give students 3 marks but the wrong one will – 1 1 mark. This negative marking is available only for the MCQ-type questions and students should answer the question correctly.

How many attempts for CAT 2024?

There is no limit on the number of attempts for CAT 2024. You can appear for the exam as many times as you want, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria. However, there is a limitation that each candidate can appear in the CAT exam only once in a year.

CAT 2024 Admit Card

The CAT 2024 admit card will be released on 25 October 2024 on the official website of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), the conducting body of the exam.

To download the CAT 2024 admit card, candidates must visit the official website and enter their registration ID and password. The admit card will contain important information such as the candidate’s name, roll number, test date, test time, and test center address.

Candidates must download and print a copy of their admit card and bring it to the test center on the day of the exam. Without a valid admit card, candidates will not be allowed to enter the test center.

CAT Exam Result 2024

CAT Exam Result 2024 will be released in the third week of December. The scorecard will include details like each candidate’s name, registration number, category, photo, sectional and overall scores, and percentiles. The exam is scheduled for November 24, 2024, and candidates can access their results on the IIMCAT website using their login details. Over 2 lakh candidates appear for the CAT annually, but only 11-16 achieve a 100 percentile, and 25-30 score 99.99 percentile. Keep in mind that in 2023, 14 candidates, all male, scored 100 percentile, with only one female scoring 99.99 percentile.

CAT 2024 results will be available starting from the third week of December on this website. The list of candidates shortlisted for the next level of selection will be made available on the respective IIMs’ websites. Each IIM will send interview letters to the shortlisted candidates directly. CAT 2024 Score

Student’s CAT 2024 scorecards will be made accessible on the official CAT website. Students are also informed individually by SMS. The CAT result 2024 are likely to be declared by the second week of January 2025. The CAT 2024 score is valid only till 31 December 2025 and will accordingly be accessible on the website.

CAT Percentile Score Calculation

1. Calculate the total number of candidates (N) who appeared for CAT (i.e. including morning, afternoon and evening sessions).
2. Assign a rank (r), based on the scaled scores obtained in the QA section, to all candidates who appeared for CAT. In the case of two or more candidates obtaining identical scaled scores in the QA section, assign identical ranks to all those candidates. As an illustration, suppose exactly two candidates obtain the highest scaled score in the QA section, then both of those candidates are assigned a rank of 1. Moreover, the candidate(s) obtaining the second highest scaled score in the QA section are assigned a rank of 3 and so on.
3. Step 3: Calculate the percentile score (P) of a candidate with rank (r) in the QA section as:

4. Round off the calculated percentile score (P) of a candidate up to two decimal points.

CAT Admission Process

Performance in the CAT 2024 examination is one of the most critical components of the IIM Admission process. Students must note that IIM shortlists candidates for the interview stage. This process includes a Written Ability Test, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview. CAT 2024 Selection Process

The tentative release date for CAT 2024 results is the second week of January 2025, accessible on this website. Candidates who advance to the next selection stage will find the shortlist on the respective IIMs’ websites. Each IIM will individually notify shortlisted candidates with interview invitations. IIM Calcutta Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Selection Criteria

Stage I: Minimum CAT percentile cut-offs to be considered for PI and WAT

Candidates must have minimum requirements on both section-wise and overall CAT 2023 percentiles in as given table and will be shortlisted for consideration in Stage II, subject to securing non-negative raw scores in all sections of CAT 2023

Please note that the actual section-wise and overall percentile cut-offs may be much higher than the above-mentioned minimum percentiles as it will depend upon the number of candidates to be called for personal interview (PI) in each category.

Stage II: Shortlisting for PI and WAT

Candidates must qualify for the Stage-I criteria and will be shortlisted for a Personal Interview (PI) and Writing Ability Test (WAT), based on the composite score calculated using the parameters and weights detailed in Table 2.

Stage III: Criteria for Final Selection for the MBA Programme

For candidates who have participated in the PI and WAT, a composite score for final selection will be calculated based on the parameters and weights listed in Table 4. This combined score will be utilized to prepare the category-wise merit list.

Eligibility Criteria:

• A bachelor’s degree (minimum 10+2+3 years of formal education) or equivalent in any discipline
• At least 5 years of full time post qualification managerial/professional experience as on March 31, 2024.
• Valid GMAT Score (taken within the last 36 months of application date).
